Adding Amazon ECHO , Music, Voice Assistant to your car

Do you have an AUX jack in your car? or bluetooth already? Adding an Amazon ECHO to your car may be a good way to get a personal assistant in your car. Get access to all your music, get it to play by your voice commands, get reminders on appointments and all the other features an Amazon Echo can offer.

One side benefit is that the amazon Echo actually fits flush inside most car cupholders! Did you know that?

First, you need an amazon echo

we recommend you get the echo dot which is the smallest version.

Now, if you have bluetooth already, it will pair automatically by the time you have your seat belt is fastened and the car turned on. If you do not have bluetooth, and have an aux jack, you will need a 3.5 to 3.5 cable

Something like below:

You will also need an DC to AC adapter for your car, if you do not have an AC jack in the car already. We recommend a simple one that works through the cigarette lighter plug.

See below for inverters:

And then, thats it!

Some of the Amazon Echo Skills included

Echo Dot (2nd Generation) is a hands-free, voice-controlled device that uses Alexa to play music, control smart home devices, make calls, send and receive messages, provide information, read the news, set music alarms, read audiobooks from Audible, control Amazon Video on Fire TV, and more

Connects to speakers or headphones through Bluetooth or 3.5 mm stereo cable to play music from Amazon Music, Spotify, Pandora, iHeartRadio, and TuneIn. Play music simultaneously across Echo devices and speakers connected via cable with multi-room music.

Call or message almost anyone hands-free with your Echo device. Also, instantly connect to other Echo devices in your home using just your voice.

Controls lights, fans, TVs, switches, thermostats, garage doors, sprinklers, locks, and more with compatible connected devices from WeMo, Philips Hue, Sony, Samsung SmartThings, Nest, and others
Hears you from across the room with 7 far-field microphones for hands-free control, even in noisy environments or while playing music

Includes a built-in speaker so it can work on its own as a smart alarm clock in the bedroom, an assistant in the kitchen, or anywhere you might want a voice-controlled computer; Amazon Echo is not required to use Echo Dot

Always getting smarter and adding new features, plus thousands of skills like Uber, Domino’s, DISH, and more

Echo Dot provides hands-free voice control for Amazon Music—just ask for your favorite artist or song, or request a specific genre or mood. You can also search for music by lyrics, when a song or album was released, or let Alexa pick the music for you. Set a music alarm to wake up to your favorite song or playlist. Listen to any song with Amazon Music Unlimited.

Does your car USB port charge your phone way too slowly? Read why.

The USB ports in cars follow older USB standards, USB 1 and maybe USB 2- Since these standards are set, it charges your phone at a very low amperage. Since these standards were set a very very long time ago, phones, tablets and other devices which use USB to charge have dramatically changed. It is not uncommon for you to be using your phone for GPS navigation, have it plugged in and then have it die while it is being plugged in a charging.

Most newer devices require at least 1.5 amps to charge correctly or even more. There is no way to improve the existing USB port in your car to make it charge with more power, but you can use the cigarette lighter plug and get a high amperage charger.
